Our homeschool freedoms are based on the Leeper v. Arlington Supreme Court Case.  This case lasted almost 10 years from when it was first filed in Tarrant County 17th State District Court.  This class action lawsuit challenged the TEA and all the ISDs who were bringing up charges against families across Texas, arresting them for homeschooling their children.  Since June 9, 1994. this case established that we are free to homeschool.

Our organization was keeping families informed, asking prayer for the courts, and keeping our families safe until the case was completed.  We have been serving homeschoolers since 1986.

Believing in honoring the past,  we asked Governor Abbott to sign a declaration of Leeper Day in 2015.  We have been celebrating this day ever since.  We had several groups gather, invite their representatives, county judges and other government officials.  Some groups had “seasoned” homeschoolers come and tell the story of Leeper.  Others got together for field days and splash days.

Splash Kingdom Waterpark is hosting a discounted day for homeschool students and their families on Thursday June 9! You can enjoy any of the five parks from 11am-6pm.

Don’t forget to add a meal voucher at the ticket window for only $5 per person.

Discounted tickets to Canton, TX and Shreveport, LA are still only $14 each.

Tickets to Hudson OaksGreenville, and Nacogdoches are still only $10 each.

You must show the flyer to receive the discount.  Click your location for the flyer, print it and bring it for your discount.

We hope that next year we can have more locations.  However, if you don’t live close to a Splash Kingdom, please consider gathering with your homeschool friends to celebrate our freedoms.  Invite a seasoned homeschooler to come talk about their journey into homeschooling.

Leeper Day, June 9, 1994 needs to be remembered and appreciated.
