Texas Home Educators announces that Governor Abbott has signed a proclamation declaring June 9, 2015 as Leeper Day. Leeper is the Texas Supreme Court Decision, signed on June 9, 1994, that established homeschooling as unaccredited private schools in Texas.
Many groups across Texas will be celebrating in public places, something rarely done before Leeper when parents were subject to arrest for homeschooling. Home educated children have gone from hiding in their homes during school hours to enjoying Homeschool Days across Texas, including Six Flags, Moody Garden, NASA and other educational and fun places.
One such Leeper celebration will be in Williamson County at Champions Park Pecan Pavilions on June 9th from 11-2. This will be a wonderful celebration of our freedom to home school verified by the Leeper v Arlington decision.
